Overview
PEI FTC is dedicated to the development of new and improved food products and processes on behalf of international, regional and local clients. FTC offers a broad range of services to the food processing and bioresource industry. Bioresource upgrading is the new wave of development in the food industry and FTC is on the leading edge in the development of new uses from primary resources. Training programs in HACCP implementation, sensory analysis, and laboratory management are conducted both internationally and regionally.
From concept to commercialization, and everything in between, FTC will take you and your product though every stage of development. Along the way, we’ll provide scale-up, quality and safety testing, sensory analysis, packaging, and just about everything else you need.
Core services
- Innovative applied research, comprehensive analysis and testing: in FTC’s accredited laboratories and technical staff assist clients in meeting standards for international markets.
- Product development/process engineering & development: in food and bio-resource products from the land and sea. FTC provides innovation and technical expertise to enable clients o compete and grow in the processing sector.
- Pilot plant: (CFIA approved for QMP, HACCP) for manufacturing and research of all types. FTC’s pilot plant and technical staff help companies create new and exportable products and attain national and international markets prior to capital investment.
- Natural products (bioresource) extraction: for conversion of primary products to value-added functional food and nutraceutical products.
- Food safety and sanitation training and systems implementation for local and export markets. FTC provides essential training and on-site implementation of HACCP, sanitation and quality systems enable clients to meet ever increasing regulatory standards required.
- Information retrieval service and interpretation of scientific information for all clients. FTC provides knowledge and information to clients regarding advances in production technology, regulatory affairs and new products.
- Trouble-shooting expertise to maintain operational competitiveness.
- Public-private partnering arrangements with corporations leading to commercialization.
- Technology transfer and innovation systems and activities though generation of intellectual and patented property pertaining to the food and bioresource sectors.
- Analysis: A large suite of chemical, physical and Microbial analysis

Natural products processing (5000 sq feet laboratory and two processing suites)
Two Pilot plants (1200 & 600 sq feet) - can be connected into one continuous plant)
